Philosophy of Ministry

Bible Doctrines

We believe in the historic fundamental doctrines of the church as set down by the apostles in the New Testament. These include the inspiration of the Scriptures, the one true and living God manifested in three persons—the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, salvation by grace through faith alone, the eternal security of the believer, separation from worldliness and unto holiness, the autonomy of the local church, and the premillennial return of Christ. These doctrines and others are referenced and explained in our Church Constitution which was recently updated with the legal advice of the Christian Law Association, Seminole, Florida.

Affiliations

Concord Bible Church is an independent Baptist church. It has no affiliations with any outside denomination or council. In recent years it has enjoyed the ministries of Awana Clubs International, Child Evangelism Fellowship, Regular Baptist Press, and Bob Jones University. Each has been instrumental in the evangelism and training of our young people.

Music

Our worship services feature vibrant traditional music utilizing traditional hymns and gospel songs which exalt God, glorify Jesus Christ, and admonish, edify, and encourage the saints. Our choir and special music utilizes the works of Majesty Music, The Wilds, and similarly conservative organizations. We do not use projection screens or praise bands in our worship services.

Worship

We believe as Paul admonished the Corinthians that all things are to be done “decently and in order.” Because of this, all services are planned with order and decorum that is both reverent and inspirational. Worship is never conducted with the worshipper in mind, but with the character and worthiness of Jesus Christ.

Bible Translations

Concord Bible Church has always used the King James Version of the Bible for both instruction and memorization. We believe, however, that a careful study of the Bible translation issue reveals the merits and benefits of other English translations in “rightly dividing the word of truth.” These translations include the New King James, New American Standard, and New International versions of the Bible.

Preaching

The church is committed to the spiritual growth of its people through sound preaching and teaching of the Word of God. Although the gospel is usually included in a typical message, the congregation does not receive a steady diet of salvation messages and stories from the pulpit. The emphasis is on practical, verse-by-verse expositions on subjects that are relevant to the Christian life. An invitation is given at the close of each message, but we reject the manipulative techniques used by some pastors and evangelists to bring people to the altar. We believe that God blesses the preaching of His Word through the unmistakable leading of the Holy Spirit alone.

Missions

We are committed to the spread of the gospel both here and around the world. We have demonstrated this through our prayers, sacrificial giving, and personal participation on the field. Twenty-five percent of the church’s income is currently used to generously support 15 missionaries and special ministries. These includes The Wilds, Awana Clubs International, Life Pregnancy Care Centers, and the Christian Law Association. Our missionaries are sent through reputable agencies like Biblical Ministries Worldwide, Baptist World Missions, Chinese for Christ International, and ABWE.
